In 2014, I traded a theatrical calendar for a pharmacy schedule. My mother’s leukemia, and later her dementia, taught me things Broadway never could — mainly, that compassion isn’t a soft skill you extend when it’s convenient.

That’s the compassion BusyGal runs on. Not the kind that pats you on the back and moves on, but the kind that actually listens to where you are — whether you’re the corporate woman terrified to hand in her notice, or the woman who’s spent 20 years running a household and wonders if any of it counts as a skill. It does. I know, because someone had to remind me of the same thing, in a Dallas kitchen, more than once.

Compassion

CORE VALUE

“It’s a discipline you practice at 2 a.m. when you’re too tired to perform it well and have to mean it anyway.”
